Late in its service life, GM&O F3(A) 883A was given new block initials using the "ICG" font style. It was one of two boiler-equipped F3's assigned to the Chicago-Joliet commuter trains.

GM&O's commuter run from Chicago to Joliet was known as the Plug, and was a fixture at Joliet in the early evening for many years.
